Ingredients:-
Rava (semolina) – 3/4 cup
Rye (Mustard seeds) – 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves – 4 to 5 leaves
Onion – 1 medium finely chopped
Ginger – 1/2 tsp finely chopped
Green chili – 2 sliced
Carrots – 3 tablespoons finely chopped
Green peas – 2 tablespoons fresh or frozen
Capsicum – 3 tablespoons finely chopped
Cashews – 5-6 fried (optional)
Coriander – 2 tablespoons finely chopped
Salt as per taste
Ghee or butter – 1 tbsp
Oil – 2 tbsp
Water – 1 + 1/2 cup
How to Make Upma (Cooking Method)
Step 1 – First of all, cut all the vegetables and sieve the semolina.
Step 2 – Now put a pan on the gas and heat it. Now put oil in the pan. When the oil gets hot, add mustard seed, when the mustard seed starts to crack, then add the peanuts and roast them. When the peanuts are roasted, add green chili and onion and cook for a while.
Step 3 – Now add chopped vegetables and cook them completely. When cooked, add semolina and butter and mix well and roast for a while.
Step 4 – After that add water and mix well (take care not to make semolina kernels in it) and cook it while stirring for some time. After that turn off the gas. And keep the pan on one side. Cover the pan.
Now your simile is ready. Now you can serve it with sambar and coconut chutney.
