If you like to make modak at home, then you can easily make them at home with this recipe. So let’s know.
Ingredients:-
Coconut – 1 cup grated
Jaggery – 1 cup grated
Nutmeg – a pinch
Saffron – a pinch
Water – 1 cup
Ghee – 2 tsp
Rice flour – 1 cup
Salt – 1 pinch
How to Make Modak (Cooking Method)
Step – 1 Put water and 1 tablespoon of ghee in a vessel and boil it. Then add 1 pinch of salt and rice flour to it. Mix well And cook it on medium heat for 5 to 10 minutes. After cooking, cover it and keep it on a separate side to cool down.
Step – 2 Now heat a pan on medium heat, add some ghee to it, and after that add grated coconut and jaggery and cook it for 5 minutes. After that put saffron and nutmeg in it and cook again for 5 minutes. After cooking, keep it on the side.
Step – 3 Now knead the dough which was cooked before, till it becomes soft, you can add more ghee or some water. Keep in mind that the atta should be soft, it should not explode.
Step – 4 Now make small round balls. Press lightly. Prepare its edges in the shape of a flower, as momos are made. Or you can put in a Modak Making mold and prepare the shape.
Step – 5 Now fill the coconut and jaggery mixture inside the shape you have prepared, fold it. Prepare all the other balls in the same way.
Step – 6 Now put all the modaks in the tray and let it steam for 10 minutes. If you do not have a steamer, then heat the water in a cooker or handi, then you can put a tray on it and steam it. Or you can make it by frying it.
Now your Modak is ready, you can serve it.
