Makki ki Roti (Corn Flour Flatbread) is a traditional Indian bread eaten especially in the winter season in Punjab, Haryana and rural areas of North India. It is made from corn flour, which is prepared by grinding corn grains. Its thick texture and special taste makes it different from wheat roti.
Ingredients for Makki Ki Roti:-
Corn flour – 2 cups
Hot water – as required
Salt – as per taste
Ghee/butter – for serving
Makki Ki Roti Recipe (Cooking Method):-
Make the dough: Add warm water little by little to the corn flour and make a soft dough.
Roll the roti: Take a ball of dough and pat it with wet hands and roll it. It may be difficult to roll it with a rolling pin, so spread it by hand.
Bake: Heat a pan and bake the roti till it turns golden on both sides. Apply ghee on top.
Serve: Serve it hot with mustard greens, jaggery and butter.
