Chilli Chicken is a very popular Indo-Chinese dish that is spicy, tangy and delicious. It is prepared by marinating small pieces of chicken in spices and sauces. Here is the detailed recipe of Chilli Chicken:
Ingredients:
For Chicken Marination:
– Boneless Chicken: 500 gms (chopped into small pieces)
– Cornflour: 2 tbsp
– Refined Flour: 2 tbsp
– Ginger-Garlic Paste: 1 tbsp
– Soya Sauce: 1 tbsp
– Black Pepper Powder: 1/2 tsp
– Salt: As per taste
– Egg: 1 (optional)
For Gravy:
– Capsicum (Green and Red): 1-2 (chopped into big pieces)
– Onion: 1 large (chopped into thick pieces)
– Green Chillies: 4-5 (cut into long pieces)
– Ginger-Garlic Paste: 1 tbsp
– Soya Sauce: 2 tbsp
– Tomato Sauce: 2 tbsp
– Chilli Sauce: 1 tbsp
– Vinegar: 1 tsp
– Cornflour: 1 tbsp spoon (dissolved in water)
– Oil: for frying and 2 tbsp
– Spring onion (for garnish)
– Salt: according to taste
Method of cooking:
Marinating the chicken:
1. Firstly, take boneless chicken pieces in a bowl.
2. Add cornflour, maida, ginger-garlic paste, soya sauce, black pepper powder, salt and egg to it.
3. Mix everything well and let the chicken marinate for 20-30 minutes.
Frying the chicken:
1. Heat oil in a pan.
2. Deep fry the marinated chicken pieces till they turn golden and crispy.
3. Take out the fried chicken and place on a tissue paper to absorb the excess oil.
Preparing the gravy:
1. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan.
2. Add ginger-garlic paste and fry till light golden.
3. Then add onion, green chili and capsicum and fry on high flame for 2-3 minutes so that they remain crispy.
4. Now add soya sauce, tomato sauce, chili sauce and vinegar and mix well.
5. Add fried chicken pieces in the pan and cook while stirring for 1-2 minutes.
6. Now add cornflour and water solution to it so that the gravy thickens.
7. Add salt as per taste and cook for 2-3 minutes.
How to serve:
– Garnish the chili chicken with green onions and serve hot.
– You can eat it with roti, naan or fried rice.
